What is an inkjet marking machine.
An inkjet marking machine is an industrial printer that automatically prints dates and codes on products or packaging moving along a production line. It takes over work once done by hand with date stamps or stickers, and because it prints without touching the product, even thin packaging such as plastic film is printed without wrinkling.
It prints, in a single pass, the expiration date, sell-by date and manufacturing date required on food packaging, lot and serial numbers for traceability, and even QR codes, barcodes and GS1 codes.

What can an inkjet marking machine print?
It prints text and numbers such as expiration dates, sell-by dates, manufacturing dates, lot numbers and serial numbers, as well as QR codes, barcodes, GS1 DataMatrix·GS1 QR and logo images. Korean, English and Chinese are all supported.
What materials can it print on?
It prints on cartons (paper boxes), paper, plastic film, plastic, metal, electronic components and more. It uses special Japanese industrial ink, and since the right ink differs by material, we run a free sample test with your actual packaging.
Can it be added to an existing production line?
Yes. The PCI-220 is a head-only unit, so you simply mount the head beside your current conveyor, case taping machine or packaging machine. It prints without contact, keeping a 2~5mm gap between the product and the head.
Is changing the date a hassle?
Enter the date on the touchscreen and it changes immediately. Unlike systems where you swap type characters, a date change takes about 10 seconds.
Is the print visible on black or dark boxes?
With white ink, the print is clearly visible even on black folding cartons and dark packaging.
What about single-sheet packaging (folding cartons, plastic film, packaging bands)?
Use the IPS-PCI220, which combines an inkjet head with an auto feeder that separates stacked sheets one at a time. One machine handles both separation and marking.
How does inkjet differ from a solid-ink marking machine?
Inkjet prints at high resolution, including QR codes and logos, without contact. The PD-480E solid-ink marking machine presses heat-melted ink onto the surface, so it holds up well where print rubs off easily, such as frozen-product film, and its consumable costs are low. We recommend the right one for your product and print content.
