What does a vision inspection system inspect?
It inspects printed characters such as expiration dates, lot numbers, engravings, and serial numbers, as well as visible defects such as creases, dents, scratches, sealing flaws, and contamination.
Can it read faintly printed characters?
The high-precision OCR of the KEYENCE IV4 AI Vision Sensor reads even faintly printed characters. With lighting, lens, and camera integrated, it can be set up without specialist knowledge.
Can we just buy the sensor and install it ourselves?
You can, but you would have to handle the line-specific bracket, angle·distance·lighting, signal connections between machines, and setting of judgment criteria yourself. PEC takes care of everything from bracket design·installation to setup, training, and post-installation support.
When a defect is found, can it stop the line or remove the product?
We connect marking machines, labelers, and conveyors via EtherNet/IP so defective products are stopped or rejected before shipping.
Can it be added to the marking machine line we already use?
We design brackets to fit your line and install them on site. In one case, adding OCR inspection to an egg packaging band marking line brought existing equipment back into use.
Can it also detect missing seal liners?
Yes. There is a case study on an herb-salt container line where only products missing a seal liner are removed automatically. It can be configured together with an induction sealer.
Do we need to reconfigure it when the product changes?
We train your on-site staff so they can change product settings themselves. PEC also continues to support packaging changes, new product additions, and judgment errors after installation.
